SwissCham is delighted to invite you to our webinar on the topic of EU-China Relations in Challenging Times on Wednesday, May 18 on Zoom, in collaboration with Stars, China Macro Group, CCI France China and Benelux Chamber.

COVID-19 has caused the cancellation of all stars symposia in 2020 and 2021 including those two foreseen in Shenzhen where we wanted to continue the annual stars China symposia previously held in Chengdu and Chongqing since 2015. Realizing that 2022 will be another year without reasonable possibilities for physical interactions with friends and experts in China, we have prepared a China-dedicated webinar series with six webinars taking place between May and beginning of October 2022.

To kick this series off, stars Switzerland Alumni Chapter President Markus HERRMANN, Managing Director, China Macro Group (CMG) and the moderator of the series, will be talking to H.E. Ambassador Nicolas CHAPUIS, head of the EU delegation in Beijing. A Sinologist by training and with working experience on the ground for the French diplomatic service in various capacities both in Shanghai and Beijing, Ambassador Chapuis has had a long diplomatic career engaging with China. In complex times like these, with challenges in EU-China relations ranging from trade issues around Lithuania, sanctions on both sides, a stalled investment agreement and now China's role in the Russian war in the Ukraine, his diplomatic skill is needed more than ever.

为拉开这个系列的序幕，stars瑞士校友会会长Markus HERRMANN，China Macro Group董事总经理兼主持人将与欧盟驻华大使，驻华代表团团长Nicolas CHAPUIS大使阁下会谈。作为一名汉学家，在上海和北京多个法国外交部门工作，经验丰富，CHAPUIS大使在外交生涯中与中国打交道的时间很长。在这样复杂的时期，欧盟与中国关系面临挑战，包括立陶宛周边的贸易问题、双方的制裁、停滞不前的投资协议以及现在中国在俄罗斯对乌克兰的战争中扮演的角色，更需要其外交才能。
